What is Learning Support?
Learning Support is an assistance given to pupils requiring supplementary support in individual subjects.
The contents of the LS-tuition is closely coordinated with the class teacher and described in an Action Plan.
Learning Support is provided in various forms: individually or in small groups; either in the classroom or one-to-one-tuition. Depending on the individual needs, groups can be formed to allow specific support for children with dyslexia or dyscalculia.
How do pupils receive Learning Support?
The need for Learning Support is generally identified by the class teachers and then reported to the LS-coordinator. The number of LS teaching hours is defined according to the number of registered pupils. These lessons are taught by qualified LS-teachers.
Pupil’s Profile
A written profile is made for each pupil registered. This profile includes the description of their specific strengths, learning difficulties as well as the planned support measures. Parents receive a copy of this profile.
Action Plan
The LS lessons are devised by both the class teachers and the LS-teacher and then documented in an Action Plan (individual teaching plan).
Review of educational objectives
Each pupil’s progress is reviewed twice per school year and documented. The parents are informed of the learning progress made.
Is attendance at LS-lessons compulsory?
Learning Support is an additional support offered by the school and therefore not compulsory. As the LS-lessons are to help and not to exclude pupils, it is recommended that the pupils should be permitted to benefit from it.
How are LS-pupils assessed?
The pupils receive a general evaluation and a separate information sheet regarding their individual learning progress.
