SEN (Special Educational Needs)
What is a SEN programme?
The school offers a SEN programme for pupils with specific learning needs in order to aid their integration into the class and therefore enable them to be successful in their school career. Specific learning needs and learning difficulties are for example; a physical disability, severe dyslexia, dyscalculia and AD(H)S.
Requirements for admission into a SEN programme
The requirement for a possible admission into the SEN programme is a detailed child and youth psychiatric assessment as well as a teacher evaluation.
Once an application for a SEN programme is submitted, an Advisory Group decides on the admission and the number of allocated lessons.
Evaluation
The SEN programme is reviewed and evaluated twice a year, after which the SEN contract is either extended, modified or terminated.
Special regulations
In exceptional cases, a SEN pupil can progress into next class without having been promoted. These SEN pupils work within the framework of their individual teaching plan.
Refusal of a SEN pupil
If the Advisory Group comes to the conclusion that it is not able to give the necessary support for the individual pupil, the European School Munich can declare itself incompetent to provide a suitable education.
