Language sections of the primary school

The primary school has seven language sections. These are: German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Greek and Spanish.

Pupils are instructed in the language of the respective language section and taught by native speakers. The language section corresponds to the main language (mother tongue) of the child. The language of the section is taught in all subjects as L1 until the Baccalaureate. Teachers from all European member states are seconded by their national governments.

One hour per day pupils of one year are divided into groups in order to study L2 (Language II). Language II (German/English/French) is compulsory from 1st class of the primary school to Baccalaureate.

There is mother tongue tuition offered for pupils (SWALS*) whose language does not correspond to the one of the section. Mother tongue tuition in Danish, Swedish, Hungarian, Finnish, etc, is held while the other classmates receive L2 tuition.
