Harmonised Syllabi
The syllabi in the language sections of the European School are - with the
exception of mother tongue - identical and the same standards of attainment
are required of all. All programmes of study in the different sections lead
to the same examination: the European Baccalaureate (For details of the examinations
see below).
To ensure that the European Baccalaureate is recognized, syllabi are designed
to meet at least the minimum requirements of all the member countries. Since
these vary, the contents have been established by negotiation between national
experts - more particularly by Committees of Inspectors - on the basis of careful
scrutiny and comparison of national curricula.
Once formulated, the syllabuses are officially promulgated by the Board of Governors
of the European Schools, which must approve any amendments.
